USAGE & REQUEST RULES

using my transparents

you don’t need to credit me if you’re using one of my transparents! just please do not repost the raw transparents and say you were the one to make them transparent.i appreciate when people send me an ask on tumblr when using one of my transparents. it isn’t required, but it just makes me really happy to know that people are using my transparents!

requesting

i take character requests and panel requests through my tumblr inbox.

  • character requests: if you are going to request a character, i'd appreciate any specific chapter numbers. sometimes, i may not complete a character request if i don't know which chapters have a lot of images of a particular character!

  • panel requests: if you have a specific manga panel you want to make transparent, include the image in your ask! it’s highly appreciated (but not necessary) if you include where the image comes from so that i can do both the colored and B&W version if possible.

once a request is completed, one pair of transparents will be immediately posted. any other transparents will be shuffled into the queue.

requests i won't do

  • i won't fill requests for parts 7 or 8 because i haven't read them. i'll catch up in a few months!

FAQ

if you have questions about using and requesting transparents, see usage & request rules!

do i need to credit you for your transparents?

you don't need to credit me!

what do you use to make transparents?

i use ibisPaint x on my iPhone. yes, i do all of this with my finger. it’s much more convenient than whipping out my whole drawing tablet.

where do you get your scans from?

for any chapters i plan to pull panels from, i go onto mangadex and compare every single scan that is available for that chapter and pick the highest quality one that seems to best capture the original nature of the chapter.

why do you make both a colored version and a black & white version?

i have a deep love for the B&W manga, but i also know that the fandom tends to use the colored manga, so i make transparents for both!

why is one version higher quality than other?

the colored manga is an official jjba digital release, whereas the B&W manga doesn't have any official scanned version that i know of. the quality of the scan ends up being entirely dependent on the scanlation group that does it, but know that i am always trying to find the most high quality scans possible.

why is there only a colored/black & white version of a particular image?

if there’s only a colored version, a B&W version either doesn’t exist, or the B&W scans that i could find looked really bad (here’s an example).if there’s only a B&W version, a colored version either doesn't exist, or i probably deemed it too difficult to make a colored version for some reason or another.

what does the "patched" tag on posts mean?

when parts of the characters are obscured, i might fill those areas in by hand. sometimes it's unavoidable in the case of B&W panels that are split onto two separate pages. it could be seen as messing with the integrity of the original panel, but...oh well. since my goal with these transparents is to make these panels as readily usable for things like icons or banners as possible, i want to make sure there's as much "workable material" as possible.

why don't you include dialogue and dialogue bubbles?

i usually snip out dialogue bubbles based on my own personal preference. whenever the bubble is included but the dialogue is blanked out, it's because i often use scans in different languages because they're the highest quality scans i can find. if there is any transparent i've done that you'd like to see with the speech bubbles included, let me know and i can try to do a version with the dialogue bubbles.
